Take this test and change your life.

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Take this test and change your life.  Research has shown, not just once or twice but repeatedly, that for most people your smile outranks your eyes, hair and body as your most attractive feature.  It is probably also the first thing you notice or avoid when you look in the mirror or at a photograph of yourself. Only you know how your smile has affected your happiness and success.

Ask yourself:

Are you totally happy with the way your teeth and smile look?

Do you habitually hide your smile with your lips or your hands when you smile?

Do you try not to smile in front of others, especially people you don’t know or have terrific smiles?

When the camera comes out do you avoid smiling?

Would you like a smile that makes you feel proud and confident?

Once you have decided to improve your smile Dr. Lerner, Dr. Lemongello and our dental team is here to help you explore your options to improve your smile.  Teeth whitening, Veneers, Crowns, Implants, Invisalign all can help create your ideal smile often in only one or two visits.  We look forward to helping you pass this test.

What is the best way to Straighten my Teeth?

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Our doctors are often asked what is best type of orthodontic treatment,  Invisalign, Six Month Braces or Traditional braces.  The answer is all of the above.  All three of these options are a form of orthodontic treatment.  Depending upon your situation any one of these or all three of these may be right for you.  In general Invisalign can be used for most orthodontic situation of crowding or spacing and minor bite corrections.  If there is sever crowding or skeletal jaw problems than traditional braces are best.  Six Month Braces work well for situations similar to Invisalign.  The reason Invisalign is the treatment of choice in our office is because they are invisible.  With Invisalign clear aligners are used to move the teeth not silver braces.  Slowly over time your teeth move becoming straighter each week.  No one will know you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them.  If you have crooked teeth or spacing between your teeth Invisalign may the right choice to give you the smile you always wanted.

Smile Makeover treating only 4 teeth

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Today we started a smile makeover treating only 4 teeth.  Initially the patient’s main concern was his crooked front teeth and was interested in porcelain veneers.  When we discussed his treatment options he realized that other than being crooked most of his teeth were attractive.  We discussed improving his smile with Invisalign first, whitening and porcelain veneers if needed.  Once his teeth were straight all that remained to improve his smile was 4 porcelain veneers placed on his upper front teeth to correct worn edges and replace old bonded fillings.  The temporary veneers were placed and shaped to act as the blue print and create a beautiful smile.  In two weeks he will return for placement of the final porcelain veneers.

Straight teeth are healthier teeth

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Straight teeth are healthier teeth.  It is common during a hygiene examination to overhear conversation about healthy teeth.  It is surprising for most to find out that straight teeth are healthier than crooked teeth.  How is that so?  Well if we look closely at straight teeth we find all the teeth lined up evenly without any overlap between the teeth.  This allows all surfaces of the teeth to be cleaned.  When teeth are crooked, the teeth overlap each other making it hard to clean in between.  Also, straight teeth wear evenly across the edges.  Crooked teeth, all at different levels and position wear unevenly.  Crooked teeth that overlap and are at different positions are more prone to decay, gum disease and wear.  Straightening crooked teeth can be easily achieved with Invisalign.  Our goal is to provide our patients with choices to maintain optimal dental health.  Having straight teeth is one way to achieve optimal health.

The combination of Invisalign and Veneers to achieve a beautiful smile

Monday, July 27th, 2009

The combination of Invisalign and Veneers to achieve a beautiful smile.  We often see patients with very crooked teeth that are interested in improving their smile.  When this is the case a smile makeover can be achieved with porcelain veneers alone or perhaps just orthodontic treatment but when used to together the result is often greatly improved.  Orthodontic treatment with Invisalign allows for correcting the position of the teeth first.  Once the teeth are in a better position the use of porcelain veneers is a very predictable, minimally invasive way to correct the color, shape and worn appearance of the teeth.

A Wider Smile

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Did you ever notice that sometimes when people smile you only see their front teeth.  Why is that?  Often these people during development and tooth eruption form in a way where the front teeth became dominant and the back teeth get tucked back behind them.  The dental term for this is Arch Form.  Their “arch form” is “V” shaped instead of “U” shaped.  This results in a more vertical appearance to the smile.  In a big smile the sides of the mouth seem empty and dark compared to the front. The teeth on the side just do not fill the smile or support the lips.   In order to improve the appearance of someone with this type of smile the teeth that are tucked back along the side need to be brought out to expand the smile in a horizontal way.  This will fill in the sides of the smile and support the lip.  This type of smile improvement can be accomplished in different ways.  It can be accomplished with veneers giving the illusion of a broader smile or it can be accomplished with orthodontic treatment such as Invisalign to move the teeth to a better, more visible position.  Either way the result is a wider, more uniform, natural smile.

Correction of Orthodontic relapse with Invisalign

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Correction of Orthodontic relapse with Invisalign.  We saw a patient today from the Bahamas who received Orthodontic treatment when younger but failed to use retainers to maintain her teeth.  This resulted in their teeth moving back and becoming crooked again.  Now there is a simple solution to this problem without the need to return to traditional braces with metal brackets and wires.  Now straighter teeth can be achieved with Invisalgn.  Invisalign is a series of clear aligners worn regularly.  Slowly but surely crooked teeth are straightened.

Invisalign Smiles

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Invisalign is a great way to achieve a beautiful new smile with straight teeth.  Presently we have a number of patients in various stages of treatment.  We started with simple impressions creating nearly invisible clear aligners which the patient wears.  Every two weeks the aligners are changed and slowly but surely the teeth are straightened.  No more ugly braces here. Today one of our patients has reached the half way point in treatment.  It is amazing to see how easily with Invisalign the teeth become straight.  It’s exciting for the patient to see the changes that occur in such a short time.
